Santa Marinella owes its touristic development to the geographical position that has led to optimal climate and environmental conditions. Ancient Etruscan harbor, Santa Marinella was the "Punicum" used as a stopover by the Carthaginians. The name stayed even when the small settlement of Punicum was transformed by the Romans, into a station of pleasure and rest with the construction of many villas.
