CANINO, famous for the production of DOP extra virgin olive oil, has a long history that starts from the Etruscans. Here lived and was buried with his family Napoleon's brother Luciano Bonaparte, Prince of Canino and Musignano. Also, Canino was the residence of the Farnese family, and here was born Alessandro Farnese, who later became Pope Paul III. Among the products of excellence, in addition to oil (with a festival celebrated on every December 8), Canino proposes green asparagus. Interesting, a couple of miles from Canino, a guided tour of the ruins of Castellardo, from the French “Chatelard” meaning “fort”. During the Middle Ages, Castellardo controlled the road that allowed the travelers to reach Rome without invading the marshes on the Aurelia Road.
