| ETRURIA LAZIALE INCOMING |
The magnificent Palazzo Farnese in CAPRAROLA is one of the best examples of Renaissance mansion, built for the Roman family of the Farnese family in their domains in the Duchy of Castro (just remember Pope Paul III Farnese). The initial design of a fort was later changed so radically from Vignola; the fortress was transformed into a grand Renaissance palace, which became the summer residence of the Farnese family. The cycle of its paintings, completed in 1583, is the most magnificent monument of painting in Italy at that time. The frescoes, executed by the Zuccari brothers and several other artists, are designed according to a program-mythological celebration of the glories of the Farnese family.
Are noteworthy: the famous Scala Regia, built inside the palace (a "twin" is in the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome), the room of “Fasti Farnesiani”, the Hall of Hercules (according to legend he was born Vico Lake), the Room of Maps with the famous representation of the Zodiac.
Attached to the palace are the "Farnese Gardens”, a splendid example of late Renaissance garden, created through a system of terracing behind the villa, perched on the hill which rises from the building and connected by Vignola with the residence through some bridges .
During the visit it is possible to arrange wine tasting, a snack or try the famous "Happy Hour" with typical products of Tuscia.
