TUSCANIA. The Basilica of St. Peter is one of the most important examples of Romanesque church in Italy. The hill where the basilica stands perhaps coincides with the area of the Acropolis of the Etruscan period; today it is still visible the overlap of the Etruscan, Roman and Middle Ages civilizations which characterize Tuscania. The village is a maze of alleys inside medieval walls; numerous towers, bell towers and fountains are to be seen. It is interesting to visit the National Etruscan Museum.
