| ETRURIA LAZIALE INCOMING |
The fascinating Vulci naturalistic-archaeological Park, near MONTALTO DI CASTRO, is a historical witness; surrounded by natural and unexpected landscapes, here are unveiled the impressive vestiges of the ancient city of the Etruscans. Its walls, paved roads, private and religious buildings, the magnificent François Tomb testify the power of one of the most important and populous cities of South Etruria at the time of the first seven kings of Rome. François Tomb, discovered by Alexander François in July 1857, is famous worldwide for the extraordinary cycle of frescoes that adorned its walls; images from the greek myth, as well as those depicting Etruscan characters (including Mastarna, heroic citizen of Vulci sixth king of Rome under the name of Servius Tullius) characterize the mastery of the unknown artist who has painted in the fourth century B.C. Vel Saties family Tomb (Vel Saties is the character portrayed on the wall of the hypogeum). The last major vestige of the medieval inhabitants of Vulci is a castle that stands isolated in the countryside, guarding a bold Etruscan-Roman bridge, last step left to cross the Fiora River, at the end of the great Roman Empire. Vulci National Etruscan Museum is housed in this castle, named castello della Badia.
The area of Events of "Traditions in Maremma" is an open space with fences for cattle. Here events related to the characteristic moments of the agricultural and livestock production are performed: men, herds of cows and horses challenge in exciting performances that have captivated fans of horse and all people who like to relive the traditions of Lazial Maremma.
